New build house in Surrey Green Belt

Flint House is a contemporary new build house in Surrey Greenbelt high in the North Downs. The proposal replaces an out-dated chalet bungalow with a new 2 storey family house that will provide the highest levels of sustainable design.

The house has been designed to minimise its impact both on the immediate context and the wider landscape and Green Belt setting. Green roofs with wildflower turf are incorporated to all roofs allowing for greater levels of biodiversity on the site. Externally the existing gardens will be re-landscaped to provide areas of new planting to enhance and soften the appearance of the house.

The selected material palette of flint and timber has been chosen to reflect the traditional vernacular architecture of Woldingham and the surrounding North Downs. The house achieves very high levels of sustainability incorporating solar PV and battery storage and rainwater recycling, together with high levels of insulation and air-tightness.
